Start-ups, innovative tech, manga, cosplay, video games… On Thursday, 20\u00a0September 2018, the best and brightest of the start-up world gathered at Technoport in Esch\/Belval for BIL\u2019s Startuppers Night<\/em>!<\/p>\n

An inconceivable event<\/h2>\n

In 2016, BIL organised the very first Startuppers Night<\/em>. It was such a great success that it has since become an annual reunion for representatives of innovative Luxembourg companies and start-ups. This year, 500 participants once again flooded the halls of Technoport on Thursday evening, raring to discover the newest creations of Luxembourg\u2019s start-up ecosystem, make new connections and, of course, have a great time. And they weren\u2019t disappointed!<\/p>\n

No sooner had they entered than the throng of entrepreneurs and reps from start-ups, accelerators and incubators was greeted by companies showing off their latest technological innovations.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Ujet caught everyone\u2019s eye with its ultra-modern collapsible electric scooter. Elsewhere, Mexence<\/strong> drew looks of astonishment and admiration from visitors as it demoed its painting robot, while iSpace<\/strong> prepared to present its lunar rover.<\/p>\n

S\u00e9bastien Wiertz, General Manager at Paul Wurth InCub, appreciated the evening\u2019s unique feel: \u201cWe attend a lot of events with potential clients. This evening brought together start-ups from a range of different fields: industry, gaming, tech, etc. There were some interesting ideas on show, as well as tools, accessories and devices for start-ups. It\u2019s a really unique kind of event!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Snacking on hamburgers, the guests tested their logic as they worked through puzzles by 216K<\/strong>. The event also featured Virtual Rangers<\/strong>, Luxembourg\u2019s first virtual reality studio, which beamed viewers into a Spaghetti Western where they could don the boots of a cowboy in the midst of a showdown.<\/p>\n

Not far from Sniffy\u2019s<\/strong> multi-sensory display screens and Foosball Society\u2019s smart table football setup, Tsume<\/strong> CEO Cyril Marchiol could be found surrounded by exquisite artwork, showcasing volume\u00a00 of his latest manga, Ragnafall\/Imperium Circus. The many meticulously detailed statues on display did not fail to impress the crowd of onlookers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am really impressed with how this event is organised\u201d, said Diego\u00a0De\u00a0Biasio, Technoport CEO. Many people say that banks are out of touch with start-ups. But, through events such as this, BIL shows that it understands the ecosystem and can relate to these kinds of companies. It\u2019s been really encouraging.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Guest of honour: the Batmobile!<\/h2>\n

While the gamers at Startuppers Night<\/em> enjoyed an array of classic retro gaming consoles, the geeks in attendance were treated to two very special visitors.<\/p>\n

Parked out in front of Technoport was the jewel of the evening. To the delight of comics buffs and superhero fans alike, guests got an up-close encounter with the legendary Batmobile<\/strong> (under the gracious and watchful eye of its Parisian owner).<\/p>\n

When enough compliments had been given and pictures taken, the guests moved upstairs for a change of scenery. That was when the DJ and cosplayers took control, with dancing, role-playing games and skits that kept everyone entertained until late into the night.<\/p>\n

An annual gathering to celebrate the start-up ecosystem, and a chance for its members to connect and unwind in their element.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Connect and unwind<\/h2>\n

For BIL Head of Marketing & Innovation<\/em> Pierre-Olivier Rotheval, who is in charge of organising the nerdfest, Startuppers Night<\/em> is a chance to bring players in the Luxembourg start-up ecosystem together in a new way.<\/p>\n

\u201cLuxembourg\u2019s start-up community is becoming more and more fragmented (Fin\u00a0Tech, industry, etc.), and there aren\u2019t many occasions to come together. The founders may get invited to start-up events, but the employees don\u2019t have much access to the start-up community as a whole. We are aware of increasing numbers of pitch sessions, panels and other discussion forums, and want to offer something different: an annual gathering to celebrate the start-up ecosystem, and a chance for its members to unwind and connect in their element. The eclectic feel of the event is completely intentional, and we welcome it. We want the event to reflect the community: exuberant, eccentric, techy \u2013 and fun!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

And the geekmoot was certainly all that, as it brought out the vibrancy of Luxembourg\u2019s start-up ecosystem. Startuppers Night<\/em> will doubtless be back again next year, with even bigger and better surprises in store.<\/p>\n

Start-up, innovations technologiques, mangas, cosplayers, et autres jeux vid\u00e9o. Jeudi 20 septembre 2018, la Startuppers Night<\/em> organis\u00e9e par la BIL au Technoport d\u2019Esch\/Belval a attir\u00e9 ce que la Start-Up Nation compte de meilleur\u00a0!<\/p>

Une soir\u00e9e haute en couleurs<\/h2>

La Startuppers Night<\/em> a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e par la BIL en 2016. Forte de son succ\u00e8s, la BIL en a fait un rendez-vous annuel d\u00e9di\u00e9 aux entreprises et start-up innovantes du Luxembourg. Cette ann\u00e9e encore, plus de 400 invit\u00e9s se sont bouscul\u00e9s dans les couloirs du Technoport jeudi en soir\u00e9e, pour d\u00e9couvrir les nouveaut\u00e9s de l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me start-up du Grand-Duch\u00e9, faire des rencontres et bien s\u00fbr profiter des animations propos\u00e9es. Et ils n\u2019ont pas \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9\u00e7us\u00a0!<\/p>

\u00c0 peine arriv\u00e9s, start-up, entrepreneurs, membres d\u2019incubateurs et d\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs ont pu aller \u00e0 la rencontre des diff\u00e9rentes soci\u00e9t\u00e9s qui pr\u00e9sentaient leurs derni\u00e8res innovations technologiques.<\/p>

Ujet<\/strong> attira tout de suite le regard avec son scooter \u00e9lectrique pliable ultra moderne. Un peu plus loin, Mexence<\/strong> faisait la d\u00e9monstration de son robot peintre sous les yeux surpris et admiratifs des visiteurs, alors que la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 iSpace<\/strong> exposait son Rover lunaire.<\/p>

Pour S\u00e9bastien Wiertz, General Manager chez Paul Wurth InCub<\/strong>, ce type de soir\u00e9e est assez exclusif\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0G\u00e9n\u00e9ralement nous participons \u00e0 des foires avec des clients potentiels. Ici, on se retrouve entre start-up de diff\u00e9rents domaines\u00a0: industries, jeux, applicatifs. On peut montrer des choses plus ludiques, des outils, des accessoires ou encore des devices, pour les start-up. C\u2019est vraiment unique au Luxembourg.\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>

Entre deux bouch\u00e9es de burger, les invit\u00e9s ont pu tester leur logique en essayant de r\u00e9soudre le jeu d\u2019\u00e9nigmes orchestr\u00e9 par 216K<\/strong>. Le premier studio de r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle au Luxembourg, Virtual Rangers<\/strong>, \u00e9tait pr\u00e9sent lui aussi et proposait de plonger en plein western et d\u2019entrer dans la peau d\u2019un cow-boy le temps d\u2019un duel.<\/p>

Non loin de Sniffy<\/strong> et de ses \u00e9crans multi-sensoriels ou encore du babyfoot connect\u00e9 de Foosball society<\/strong>, Cyril Marchiol, CEO de Tsume<\/strong>, proposait le tome 0 de sa derni\u00e8re BD Ragnafall\/Imperium Circus<\/em>, entour\u00e9 de ses sublimes cr\u00e9ations mangas. Ses statues \u00e0 la finition minutieuse n\u2019ont d\u2019ailleurs pas laiss\u00e9 indiff\u00e9rents les curieux, mass\u00e9s en nombre pour les admirer.<\/p>

\u00ab\u00a0Je suis ravi de l\u2019organisation de cette soir\u00e9e, affirme Diego De Biasio, CEO du Technoport. On entend souvent dire que les banques sont d\u00e9connect\u00e9es par rapport aux start-up. Mais avec des actions comme celles-ci, la BIL montre qu\u2019elle comprend l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me et qu\u2019elle est proche de ce type d\u2019entreprises. C\u2019est pour nous tr\u00e8s positif.<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>

Star de la soir\u00e9e\u00a0: la Batmobile\u00a0!<\/h2>

Si les invit\u00e9s ont pu se faire plaisir autour des anciennes consoles de retrogaming, la Startuppers Night<\/em> a aussi donn\u00e9 l\u2019occasion aux geeks de rencontrer du beau monde, en dehors des entrepreneurs pr\u00e9sents\u2026<\/p>

L\u2019une des surprises de cette troisi\u00e8me Startuppers Night<\/em> se trouvait sur le parvis du Technoport. En effet, la v\u00e9ritable Batmobile<\/strong> de Batman \u00e9tait expos\u00e9e pour le plus grand plaisir des amateurs de comics et de super-h\u00e9ros\u2026 sous la surveillance aussi attentive qu\u2019amicale de son propri\u00e9taire parisien.<\/p>

Quelques photos et rafra\u00eechissements plus tard, retour \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tage pour profiter d\u2019un changement d\u2019ambiance. C\u2019est d\u00e9sormais le DJ et les cosplayers<\/em> qui ont pris le contr\u00f4le de la soir\u00e9e, \u00e0 travers des danses, jeux de r\u00f4le et mises en sc\u00e8nes qui ont entra\u00een\u00e9 dans la f\u00eate, les start-up et autres invit\u00e9s jusqu\u2019au bout de la nuit\u2026<\/p>
